Communications Advisor

The Communications Advisor is a key role in assisting the Manager of Communications in supporting the organization’s priorities. As a member of our team, you will be able to see and feel the impact that you are having on the town as you contribute to the important projects that are helping to shape the future of High River. You can also enjoy working in a community with a small town lifestyle yet convenient access to larger centres; only a 30 minute drive to Calgary!

In this role, you will produce and manage content and design work for the Town’s digital and online presence, including social media channels, websites and intranet, as well as a variety of communications and marketing material. You will work with client departments to establish communication objectives and determine goals, audiences, messages and best methods of effectively carrying out those intentions. You will have the opportunity to assist with raising the profile of the Communications division to help keep communications ‘top of mind’ within the organization.

The Communications division is a team of two which will allow you the opportunity to work closely and alongside the Manager of Communications. We are passionate about providing our employees with strong leadership, professional development, and mentorship to help you reach your career goals and personal growth.For this position, you possess a degree or diploma in communications, public relations, or a related field, and you have two to five years progressively responsible corporate communications experience in a designated public relations, public affairs or public information position. Experience in municipal government is preferred. You have demonstrated strong computer skills in a number of design-based programs, specifically but not limited to Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Adobe Acrobat. In addition, you are proficient in the use of WordPress. Exceptional writing and editing skills and knowledge of Canadian Press Style standards are also required.
